Ferol and John Finlay,

I tried the CMS ICAD demo and as stated the Direct Distance Entry does
not work with MOVE and COPY which is very curious because it functions
perfectly in Demo Version 5.0.0020 from B and in Demo Version 4.8.001
from A. Perhaps CMS has to refresh the code base and recompile???

Ferol is right about this misbehavior.
It is the directed distance entry feature
which has been functional in other CADs
for a long time...ie: enter a distance on
the command line and indicate the direction
with your mouse cursor.

Several newer demos of Icad have fixed this
up to work properly now.

Yes, I am aware of the same news but understand that as an initial release the program will be slightly tweaked to run better under WINE (the windows emulation layer). I have been in the same boat for several years now, where everything I need is available for Linux except the Acad clone. If things ...

As davep suggests, a Mutoh pencil plotter is what you want. I used one about 8 years ago and was quite impressed with it's pencil plotting speed (don't have to wait for ink to flow)...I believe it understood HPGL2 so you can use a Hewlet Packard plotter driver. (I think it worked well as a HP7586......

Except for the 'pseudo' surfaces generated by giving planar figures a 'thickness' value, Icad is presently restricted to 3D-Faces and Poly-Face Meshes for surface modeling. Both of these types of 'surface' entities are entirely compatible with Acad and should cause no problems in that direction. It ...

Sombody correct me if I'm wrong...I think
Adesk products use a proprietary display
list driver which surpasses anything VIA
Windows. HEIDI...I think it's called...or
was it WHIP.? Anyway it makes Adesk CADs
much faster display wise.

I have successfully used a 1990 version of CHTEXT.LSP by Yoder but recall a newer file of the same name that did not work. I believe most Lisp programs written for Acad12-13 will function verbatim, or with very few modifications,(except those dealing with SOLIDS). Acad14-2k+ Lisp files present a gre...

I think that the ITC will be including ACIS
support, both viewing and editing, as an
optional offering in PRO versions by various
vendors (per Bricsnet Forum). That will
mean solids ability in Icad. The tentative
release date is a few months down the road,
I believe.....

All your AutoCAD experience counts here because
Icad is almost identical to Acad.

For simple, un-capped square-ended extrusions
you can just modify the THICKNESS value of an
entity. These pseudo-extrusions render nicely.

If you hold the Shift+Ctrl keys down while
you drag the mouse with right or left button
depressed you get zoom or pan dynamic.

In related news, the IntelliCAD Technology Consortium
announced that solid modelling and xref clipping will
be added to next release. http://www.intellicad.org

Is this to be in the CMS version?
