There are numerous critisisms of intellicad here. I downloaded a couple demo versions from a couple sites and (with a competitors version) did have the program freeze when I did an undo command. I have been using autocad LT 2000 and skipped a couple upgrades (after many years of paying for upgrades) I am now getting drawings that I have to open that were created in Autocad 2004 or newer & I can't open. Since I skipped a couple upgrades I am out of luck unless I pay the full price again. So finally I gambled & bought CMS Intellicad 6 PE. Seems to work perfectly, at least so far. What more could I ask from a program priced less than a LT upgrade! BRAVO, keep up the good work. I felt I had to put in a good word on this site.

Yes, it's certainly a good value and a fine program.

I do think, however, that users have a responsibility to provide feedback.

As a software developer myself (much more than I am a CAD user) I depend on user feedback. Developers have an "inside out" view of a program and don't (typically) interact with it like "normal" users do.

The recently discussed issues with 6 PE/PE+ (that I'm aware of)

• Rendering submenus that fail to appear.
• Docking toolbars that undock and rearrange themselves between program invocations.
• Snap-to on hatching bogging down the app when moving the cursor over complex hatches.

aren't show-stoppers and (mostly) have work-arounds.

But if we users don't put up our hands and say "Hey, this could be better" then the developers are quite justified in thinking that everybody is happy with everything and there's nothing that needs fixing.

Besides -- it's human nature to complain

I am just sort of a casual cad user. I have a draftsman that really knows this stuff. I just do little edits so I don't always have to bother him.

One little compaint I have is that when I copy from one drawing to another the object is placed where it was in the first drawing not where I would like to paste it. I read in the manual that that is the way it is supposed to work, but I don't like it. It would be nice if there was an option of placing it where you wanted so you didn't have to zoom out, drag it close to where you want it, zoom in and then finish moving it.

I guess if I was using blocks instead copying objects from other drawings this wouldn't be problem.

It seems you are using windows copy/paste. Use the copy command instead ( type copy - or use the toolbar or the menu -, select the entities, pick the base point, go to menu "window", change to the destination drawing, pick the displacement point ).

Thanks, I was using copy and past from the menu but wasn't paying any attention to the information/instructions on the command line. If I select the base point etc. it works fine.

Guess that proves I'm not a draftsman!

I've been experimenting using blocks. If I used it enough to get good at it I can see that would be powerful.
