I have a client who regularly copies and pastes sections of Excel files into his drawings. It works fine, but his client, who uses AutoCAD, gets solid black areas printed where the worksheet objects are.
The worksheet objects display correctly in AutoCAD and the Print Preview is correct. The problem only occurs when the drawing is printed.
Charts print OK, but simple rows and columns of text/lines do not.
My client is using IntelliCAD 6.1. His client is using AutoCAD 2006.
I have tested it on my version of AutoCAD 2006 and get the same solid black areas printed.
Can anyone shed any light on this issue?
Many thanks in advance.

billm,
I copied some cells into ICAD 6.3 and printed - all ok.
I tried to open this in ACAD 2005 without success and I went back to ICAD and saved as ACAD 2000 drawing.
I printed this in ACAD 2005 and it was ok.
While these are not the versions you have, Object Linking & Embedding (OLE) is a Microsoft product and they have been around for a while, so it should work.
You could try as I did and save as a 2000 drawing just in case it is ACAD drawing file encryption that's causing the problem.

John,
Thanks for the reply - some interesting results.
I now have a copy of ICAD 6.3, so I did some testing on 6.1, 6.3 and ACAD 2000 and ACAD 2006.
The drawing prints fine from ICAD 6.1 and 6.3.
The Excel objects print black in ACAD 2006, regardless if the drawing is saved in ICAD in ACAD 2000 or 2006 format.
The drawing prints fine when printed from ACAD 2000.
A Proxy error window appears when the drawing is opened - "Missing Application: ObjectDBX Classes" and the Excel objects actually display as black areas on the screen, but display correctly in the Print Preview.
Just thought you might like to know. Off to do some more testing now.
