Publishing Illustrations

We recently moved from AutoCAD to IntelliCAD. We use it exclusively for making quick and dirty 2D line illustrations for use in instruction books. With AutoCAD, we could select some work, copy to clipboard, then paste into MS Word as a windows metafile. Crop, resize, and all was well.

We find that doing the same with IntelliCAD gives us very poor results, especially if we have to enlarge significantly once in Word. I've looked into various exports from IntelliCAD, but don't find anything that works much better.

Does anyone have any suggestions on quick ways to get a reasonable quality copy of line work out of IntelliCAD and into Word?

Thanks. I was hoping for a 1-step solution, like copy and paste, or just save to something I could directly insert. Much more workable if I end up making multiple changes and updates. Not sure why IntelliCAD works so poorly compared to AutoCAD in doing a copy/paste.
