About how to work with layers, I use layers only for levels and/or facades.

Level1 - walls
level1 - windows
Level1 - doors
level2 - walls
level2 - windows
level2 - doors.
facade south
facade north
Section 1
section 2
etc

AND if you want to work with 3D you can add a height for earch layer and choose a thickness in plus.
so when you work on level2 layer all your item will be to this height directly.

I understand your explanation of Thickness from your previous post, thank you for that. However, I also use a similar Layer creation strategy, but I do not understand how you can give a Layer a thickness.

Format > Height
Format > Thickness

The Height of a layer is setup with the objects on this layer.
The thiskness of the layer is the same.

Before you draw; make sure you are on certain layer (for example on the first level) and if you set the height to 0.00 m, the line you draw will be placed at this altitude 0.00 ! If you have setup the thickness before with 2.80m, this line will be thick in 3D like this Then if you draw on the second leve'sl layer; change the height to 3.2 m but don't change the thickness, ..... and draw your line on this second level's layer. Here is the result in 3D: like that your drawing will be thickness in 3D. It's the old method of AutoCAD a lot of years ago.....
