Greetings,

I wish to scan aerial photos (raster) and put the images on a laptop. I then want to hook my Magellan Map 330 GPS to a laptop and track myself realtime on the photo. I want to make notes and boundarys and calculate areas and do rough site analysis work for building and master planning purposes. Can I please get some feedback and suggestions from anyone about software recommended, what you have used, and good reliable rugged laptop purchase suggestions. The laptop will need to be able to be hiked into the woods in a backpack and used in heavy brush and tree cover. I was thinking about using Intellicad 2001 and something like Mapsite. http://www.stellarnav.com/mapsite.htm

Please give me your ideas,

drawit

have you looked thru http://software.geocomm.com/
or http://SAL.KachinaTech.COM/sal1.shtml
to see if they have anything close to what you need?
