Just got a copy of 4pe+. I can't get the boolean commands (union, subtract & intersect) to work with extruded solids. I just get the '_PMTHIST reply. Solids made with the solids toolbar can be edited fine however. I haven't yet tried the cms goodies, but like the fast renders especially with raytrace. When can we expect an update/patch/new release to help with editing extruded solids? Is there a workaround for the here and now? Thanks

I have the same problem. The standard solid shapes work fine, but when extruding a polyline, or any solid shape not generated with the standard toolbar set does not work.

Is there a patch for this? Being this way, it makes the ACIS solids virtually worthless.

According to the documentation it supposed to work, so it seems to be a definate bug. But my guess is that it is something simple since toolbar generated solids can be edited fine. Revolved solids also are no problem. Not being able to copy and paste solids between drawings is a big drawback, unless there is a way I'm not aware of. Comparing the size of the acis.dll file in intellicad to the one in Acad 14, they left alot out. I miss solprof and massprop too, but I'm still very happy with the program and am definately going to hang around for the next upgrade. Oh, sorry, "_PMTHIST" pops up with F2, I'm awake now.

What O.S. are you running?

It behaves as you suggest on Win2000.

On WinXp Home the solids appear to be functioning properly. A rectangle, pline shape, etc. can be extruded and the solids manipulations can be done as if a toolbar solid shape were created.

I'm using Win98 at home. But it does the same thing at work on my new Dell running XP-Pro. Do this: draw circle, type extrude, select circle, give it height, copy it over a little (overlap). type subtract, pick one, enter, pick other, enter. If it works for you, then maybe you have a different 4pe+ than I do, and I just got it a month ago.

Well, I do not know what is going on. Yesterday I tried what you suggest on win2000 and it did not work. Today it works okay. Maybe it has something to do with what processes are running.

It does appear though that when entities are extruded that they are not made quite right.

I got my PE+ version before you did,

Good News, I was told by Melodie Triche ,Technician w/CMS, that it is a known problem and a patch will be soon coming and be free to all pe+ customers. On another note, I just noticed today that acis solids can be exported and imported in .sat format. Not as handy as copy/paste, but at least there is a way.

I was told notice of the patch would be posted on the forum. Don't know if it's just to fix the extruded solids bug or part of a more inclusive patch/upgrade.

The 3D union and subtract must not have worked when we bought Intellicad 4 PE+.

They have since sent out a email advertising Intelicad and how it has all the Autocad 3D functions, even though the product is malfunctioning.

It was etoolbox.com that sent out the email offering the great, 3D solids editing disfunctional, product for people to purchase.

This is the company I purchased Intellicad 4PE+ from.

I think you are correct thought-man. I'm using intellicad more often now at work, modeling without extruding. By using the box cylinder, and revolve commands I can do much of what I need. These solids can be edited without too much trouble. Except when they get switched around. It's weard, sometimes I have to use the union toolbar button to do a subtract. Could be cause I jump back and forth to AutoCAD LT. (Model in Intellicad, save, insert into LT) Anyway, The more I use it the better it seems to work. I keep looking for the patch though.

FYI this was fixed months ago in the Bricscad Intellicad version. You are victims of the slow upgrade cycle of CMS (and Cadopia) Intellicad. It really is unacceptable that fixes for critical errors like this take months to make it to the users. It makes one suspect the policy is to sell out the stock of boxed sets before any fixes can be applied. Keep complaining!
