SLICE command - SOLVED!

Hello everybody again!
I have a question regarding SLICE with SURFACE command.
As I have learnt, Surface has to be extruded throughout EXTRUDE-MODE-SURFACE. And as such, SLICE works with spline:

My question is: How to make a surface out of PLINE, that would CORRECTLY slice 3DSOLID?
Many regards,

I've found it a little clunky as well to be honest. I figured I could import a surface and use that, sometime it cut other times it tried to rectangle select instead of selecting my surface. It may be something to do with the surface type.
The way I've done it is to use project curve so I've drawn in a spline, project that to the body and you get an outline of curves. Then build a surface using netwrok curves. Then it slices ok.
I'm not sure how you would use a totally organic surface in this sense if you need to rebuild it, maybe there is a sequence inside intellicad for making it the right type of surface that work with the command

Hello Ugmentalcase!
Thank you for reply!!! I figured out it has to do with
surface type. To be honest, I wrote to software developers. I think they are checking this as well, because it is obviously some kind of a bug.
Nevertheless, I need a workaround until they fix it.
I am not sure if I understood what you wrote... You managed to slice 3DSOLID by projecting a spline, am I right?
Well, I guess SLICE command somehow works with more complicated surfaces, such as curves; however it does not work with straight lines!!!
Do you know how can I slice with green surface (made out of PLINE), as shown on the picture below:

Yes, so I drew the spline on the top of that end piece, used project curve from the tool bar and it gave me 4 curves on the solid block. The spline shape on the top and bottom faces and then two straight lines down the sides. Then I used network surface, select top and bottom curve, right click, select side curves, right click and it make the surface.
The used slice command, picked the solid, picked 'surface' from the command bar at the bottom of the screen, then picked the surface and it sliced it.
It was only the other day I was trying to slice a solid as I was working on making some dynamic section line blocks, so I wanted to be able to slice a solid to then use flatshot and make a section view. Couldn't get it working, then saw your post and tried some other things

Hi Aleksandra,
I tried some tests but nothing for you :

When I use an extruded polyline, just the first plane is use to slice/ trim the volume.
But with a surface extruded, no problem with subtraction of volume to cut the volume!
Weird ! Why a polyline can cut ? Just a extruded spline????

Hi Patrick!
You are an angel!
How did you manage to slice with SUBTRACT command?
I tried to make a SURFACE (with Extrude-Mode-Solid) command and than SUBTRACT, but it did not work.
I also tried with SURFACE (Extrude-Mode-Surface) command and than SUBTRACT, but it also did not work.
If I make two solids and SUBTRACT, it works normally. It cuts a part of my first solid and that's it.
But that is not what I need. I need SLICE command to work as it should. Nothing for me

Yes we are both right ! It's 3d subtraction but slice don't work with 3 faces together !!! Strange....

So, we will just wait for developers to fix this bug.
I simply can not work without this command.

SLICE works on the latest v13.1 build.
If the slicing plane is generated from a PLINE extrusion, then such plane is created using the EXTRUDE command.
run SLICE > Pick solid to section > click "S" and select the Surface (the slicing plane) > press enter to keep both sides of the sliced solid.

Thank you Developers!
I tried SLICE command and now it works!
