Using Icad 5PE+, version 5.0.20.1,WinXP pro, a rather simple 350K file size, and element operations - lines, circles, insert small blocks, etc. the computer locked up (well nearly). Was able with "ALT F" get the file menu displayed and tried saving with "S", and then after a wait of time, "save as". After another wait, an error window appeared "arithmetic overflow,... unable to save file"

Used task manager to close Icad only, computer continued to function normally without restarting. Both the working DWG and the BAK were "0K" (not ok) size. Lost 6 hours of building blocks, but fortunately ~) had back then "saved as" new file name since was thinking newer work might be a dead end.

Hind sight: Occasionally do a "SAVE AS", don't rely on BAK! If computer goes wierd like partial lockup, or slow, just use task manager to close software, don't try to save from goofy performance. This is the first time in more than 40 years of working with computers I have not been able to go to the BAK file!

currently downloading latest version, ugh! dialup is showing 3h 19m left

I run Win98SE, for each file opened a .SV$ file is saved to the 'C:\Windows\Temp' folder.
I'm not too sure if Intellicad on WinXP is setup the same but worth having a quick look.
You could also try a search for *.SV$ & see what turns up.
