I purchased CMSIcad PE+6.3, but I am considering to ask for my money back, there is a terrible bug in the software, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO COPY ENTITIES FROM ONE DRAWING TO ANOTHER !! Pressing F2 I can read: "The drawing cannot be switched while a command is active " - how can CMS release a version with such a stupid bug ??? It always worked, since Icad98, one of the best features comming from Acad12 ... Very, very disappointing !!
And the help file says:

Copying entities
You can copy one or more entities, making one copy or multiple copies within the current drawing. You can also copy entities between drawings.

Am I missing something, perhaps there is some setting to fix this ???

I have 6.2 PE and have no problem with it. Do you have both drawings up when you try to copy from one drawing to the other?
I simply fence the objects I want to copy
as if to copy the entity from one part of the drawing to another part of the same drawing, hit return and then pick a base point. Then when the copy routine asks for the displacement point, I minimize the drawing copying from, and then maximize the drawing I want to copy to, then pick the displacement point.
Is this the way you copy? I definitely could not get the copy to clipboard to work, ( I use Windows XP )

It worked with 6.2 for me too, as you described it, but not in 6.3. If I remember correctly, it did not work also in 6.1.
With 6.3, copy to cliboard works ok in my XP...

I just tested this:
1. 2 drawings open, maximized; in dwg1: type copy, enter, select entity, select base point, go to menu > windows , and pick the destination drawing (dwg2). The prompt informs "The drawing cannot be switched while a command is active ", and you cant go to dwg2 to place the entities you want to copy. Remember, both dwgs are maximized.

2. 2 drawings open, floating windows: in dwg1: type copy, enter, select entity, select base point, click somewhere in the other drawings window, choose the displacement point - it works !

3. 2 drawings open, maximized: in dwg1: type copy, enter, select entity, select base point, minimize the dwg you are copying from, the destination drawing will appear floating, click somewhere in it, choose the displacement point - it works too !

Well, this is kind a workaround, for me, I was used to use menu > windows > choose the other dwg, and so on, but at least it can be done in some way. Hope they change it in the next release...

I tried # 1 and it worked OK with me. Must be something to do with 6.3

You might want to try to copy something from one drawing, and then after getting the base point, hold "control-tab" and see if the other drawing will cycle up, ready to take the copy.

I have trouble sometimes, if I copy something from dwg #1, and when I go to insert it in dwg # 2, dwg # 2's ortho is set on, and I don't see the copy entity I am dragging until I set the ortho off in dwg #2.

I agree that this is going to be a frustrating iteration until the bug is fixed. Although you cant't copy and paste, you can cut and paste between open drawings.

Just don't forget to close the drawing you cut from without saving, or work from a copy of the original drawing.
