CAD Software Forum

Hello all,
I am fairly new to ICAD and am being asked to develop a program suite that runs on both of the CAD platforms mentioned in the subject above. I have the ACAD portion running fine, but I am having a few difficulties getting the routines to run identically in both CAD environments. I know this topic has probably been discussed somewhere, and if you could provide me with a resource site or FAQ, I would glady not bother going into detail about the problems I am having. Don't want to re-hash a done topic! If none exists and you would like to help in any way, feel free to contact me and I can explain a few of the issues I am having. (they mainly deal with inserts and dcl)

Contrary to what you think, there has been very little discussion on this topic. I've had to learn by trial and error myself, and have managed to get all my lisp programs (some are very large) to work cross-platform. That means I know about some of the compatibility problems that arise.
In general, the Intellicad lisp engine works well, but it seems to be less "tolerant" of certain coding styles than the Autocad counterpart. A routine written primarily for Intellicad will nearly always work in Autocad, the other way round it a lot less reliable.
Another problem is that the core of the Intellicad program is undergoing a lot of development. Changes are being made to the workings of basic system variables and commands, unlike in Autocad. That again means that your routines may start to act strange with a new Intellicad release. Just something to be aware of.
