I am a new user so if anybody has any helpful hints or shortcuts that are useful please let me know. I am willing to learn anything new.

Maybe a good start point might be the customization of the user's interfase. That is useful because it makes your working enviroment more comfortable, by keeping the tools or commands you use most at hand.

If you want to talk about it, just reply here.

Yeah that is a good idea. I just don't know where to start. How would I go about starting to customzing toolbars and such ? I know that is a basic thing just that I just started working on CAD and I don't really know to much besides drawing some lines.

So does anybody else have any suggestions ? That they think might help ?

Well, as I told, the customization of the interfase is useful to keep the right tools at hand.

The icon toolbars you see in the upper side of the screen, are able to be located anywhere in the screen, you just drag and drop them.

If you right click a icon, you'll see a list popping up, that is a list of available toolbars. You can choose any one of them, it'll appear in the upper left side of the drawing editing screen. Then, you can move it wherever you like.

For example, I use the Draw and Edit tool bars at the left side of the screen. The zooming and viewing ones at the right, the dimensioning one at the bottom and the standard (open, save, copy, paste, etc.)and the properties one at the top.

Also, in the main menu, you'll find in Tools>Customize, a dialog box with the following items:

Menu, Toolbars, Keyboard, Alias

You can set there the Keyboard shortcuts as you wish, and the Aliases too.

For example, I learned to use ACAD in one of its older versions, no graphic interphase was available, so I use the keyboard shortcuts very often. If you're new to ICAD, you can get use to use extensively the icons instead of keyboard.

If you make any change, and don't like, you might use the RESET button. In the other hand, you like it so much and would like to keep it, you might save it to a file.

The best method I know is to use a digitizing tablet. The "help" menu tells you how to write down the commands in the tablet. From there on drafting is a breeze...
